Questions: Where lies the answer?

After one has strayed so far from God's love; after they have hurt their loved ones dearly, how do they go back to God. How do they muster up the courage? How do they rekindle that flame? How do they embark on a new journey that will catapult them in the direction that God so desperately wants to put us? How does one release the fears and doubts that are holding them back from acheiving or reaching their highest potential? How does one accept God's forgiveness and become a new creature? How does that person tap into the inner resources that God gave to them ?
How does one overcome temptations and habits that they have personally allowed to develop? How does one mend years of unreliance on God and dependence on their own self.
